Guest Policy
Author Guest of Honor (GoH) - Established author. Multiple award winner (Hugo, Saturn, Nebula, Phoenix, etc) or New York Times Best Seller. All GoHs are strictly selected by the committee.
Media Guest of Honor (GoH) - Actor/Actress or Director/Producer. Work in a multiple genre-related projects preferred. Projects should include major television or motion picture. Fan or independent productions do not apply. All GoHs are strictly selected by the committee.
Artist Guest of Honor (GoH) - Professional Artist. Published work in established comics, books/book covers, trading cards, or other retail items. All GoHs are strictly selected by the committee.
Special Author Guest - Southern Writer, and/or Industry Professional, at least one genre-related novel or short stort published by a major publishing house. All Special Guests are strictly selected by the committee.
Special Media Guest - Actors/Actresses, Producers, Directors. Must have participated in at least one genre-related television show or motion picture. All Special Guests are strictly selected by the committee.
Other Guest of Honor or Special Guests - The committee will consider other guests of honor and special guests in other areas of interest on a case by case basis. These can include Paranormal, Comics, Science and Music/Filk. In general, there must be a genre connection with any of these guests before consideration.
Author Guests - Must have at least one novel/short story published by a major publishing house or be a regular writer/editor/publisher for a major magazine (major being defined as something someone purchases a subscription for or can buy at a bookseller) or a writer for major comic publisher (Dark Horse, DC, Marvel) or Gaming Company.
Self-Published Author Guests - We accept these on a case by case basis, at the committee's discretion.
Independent Comics Artists , Webcomics Artists - We accept these on a case by case basis, at the committee's discretion.
Bloggers, Writers for Independent Webzines/Fanzines: We accept Bloggers, Writers for independent webzines, fanzines as Press. They may apply for a Press Pass Under Press Pass Selection in the menu.
Group Guests - Groups like production companies, bands, fan film groups, etc can apply as a group. However we only offer two free badges to a legitimate group. We can offer a group rate to the rest or they can apply as individual guests.
Performance Groups - Traditionally we accept a wide variety of performance groups including comedy groups, music groups, dance groups, and other performace groups, but it is required that they have some kind of direct genre connection (sci-fi, fantasy, or horror).
All other guest candidates will be negotiated on a case by case basis by the committee.
As a Guest, you are at least entitled to:
- Free entry into the con.
- Participation in at least 4 panels or events at ConCarolinas
- Listing as a Guest on our Guest List
Panelist Policy
Instead of a guest, you can also apply to be a panelist. Being a Panelist committs you to fewer panels (2 or 3) than a guest is required to do. Applicants that are new or not as "established" in their field can qualify as a panelist instead of a guest. As a panelist you will get a discounted badge, which must be paid by the deadline in the agreement. Once accepted as a panelist and the fee is paid, the con will list the applicant in the Panelist List. These will be at the discretion of the con committee.
Some Guest applicants may be accepted as Panelists instead. This is lefft at the discreation of the committee, based on experience, past contributions to the con, how current your work is as well as amout of work.
As a Panelist, you are entitled to:
- Discounted entry into the con (Panelist Fee)
- Participation in 2 or 3 panels or events at ConCarolinas
- Listing as a Panelist on our Guest List once the fee is paid.
